Applications of Optical Fibers.

1.Fiber Optic Interconnects:-
Interconnections are one of the largest and most widely used areas for fiber optic cables and assemblies. An interconnect is defined as the physical connection of two or more fixtures through which communication is possible. Interconnects range from simple, simplex patch cords to multi-channel distribution and backboned cables and virtually everything in between.

2.Medical Application:-
Optical fiber medical instruments may contain bundles of optical fibers. An optical  fiber instrument used to see the internal parts of human body is endoscope. The endoscope facilitates the physicians to see the internal parts of body without performing surgery.

3.Military Fiber Optics:-
Fiber optic products are used in a variety of military applications requiring rigorous testing and harsh environment certification to ensure reliability and performance in the field.

4.Fiber Optic Networking:-
Networking is a wide ranging and loosely defined area in the industry. With all broadband and MSO applications using a network structure to deliver its signal, networking applications have a significant contribution in virtually every area.

5.Gigabit Ethernet:-
Gigabit Ethernet solutions have become a necessity with the accelerating growth of LAN traffic, pushing network administrators to look for higher speed network technologies to meet the demand for more bandwidth.

6.Fiber Optics for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV):-
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are a relatively new and rapidly growing application for fiber optic communications. Utilized as the primary communications conduit between group control and the antenna controlling the UAV , fiber optics provide a very fast and efficient means for transmitting a very large amount of data over long distances.

7.Fiber Optics for Data storage Equipment:-
The main function of fiber optics in data storage equipment is to provide the communications link between multiple devices on a network and / or part of a storage system , typically NAS , SAN , or CAS.

8.Semiconductor Equipment:-
Fiber optics are commonly used in the semiconductor industry for a variety of applications. The unique performance characteristics of fiber optics make it a natural choice for equipment and sensor interconnects , imaging , and illumination.
For equipment and sensor interconnects , fiber provides a very large amount of bandwidth transmitted at very high speed , ensuring seamless communication.

9.Automotive Fiber Optics:-
Fiber optic technology is becoming the medium of choice for a variety of automotive applications. with its unique characteristics , fiber optics are a naturally ideal choice for lighting , communications  and sensing requirements.

10.Fiber Optics for Oil and Gas:-
Fiber optics are used for a number of applications in the oil and gas markets. These markets require very specific cabling and connectivity requirements to ensure the utmost in safty , productivity , and harsh environment durability.

 11.Fiber Optic Imaging:-
Fiber optic imaging is used for a myriad of applications across several different industries. The concept of fiber optic imaging use the optical transmission properties of fiber to transmit an image from end to end. To accomplish this , most imaging applications use an image guide or coherent bundle to collect an image of the target or subject area , then relays that information to the view end for interpretation.

12. FTTx :-
FTTx ( Fiber to The X), most commonly covers FTTh (Fiber to The Home ), FFTc (Fiber To The curb), FFTp (Fiber To The Premises) , and FTTd ( Fiber To The Desk) applications running from the central office or head - end to business , residential , or multi-unit dwellings.
